After the trip of Finland and Norway, the Naratas Akar Atap Class Eurasia 2018 team continued the journey to Sarawak, Malaysia to attend the Rainforest Fringe Festival in Kuching. During the trip, Hinhin returned to Indonesia, while Dini and Atit traveled to Singapore and then Sarawak, to join Kimung who had already been in Kuching first.

In Kuching, Naratas Akar team met Wendy Teo from Borneo Lab and explored many things related to the development of creativity in Kuching as well as developing the Bandung – Sarawak network there. They also explored the Borneo 744 venue where the 2018 Rainforest Fringe Festival was held. This year, as well as featuring collaborations of Wendy Teo and Kimung and Karinding Attack in the bamboo architectural work, the Rainforest Fringe Festival also exhibits Kimung’s collection of karinding and harp mouths along with works by other artists from Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan. This video shows the first part of Tim Naratas Akar’s journey in Kuching, Malaysia, interviews Wendy Teo from Borneo Lab, and the first exploration of the venue, Borneo 744.
